On Friday, November 7th, Methacton School District proudly welcomed its first Chief of Police, Chief Mark Stead. With over 25 years of dedicated service to the Lower Providence and Methacton communities as a police sergeant and School Resource Officer, Chief Stead brings experience, familiarity, and heartfelt commitment to this role.

Throughout his career, Chief Stead has been a visible and trusted presence in all seven Methacton schools. From reading books to elementary students to leading alcohol safety lessons for middle and high schoolers, his impact on students has spanned generations.

“The most rewarding part of my career was working as an SRO in the district, because you see young people grow from elementary school all the way up to graduating from high school, and now as young adults,” he reflected.

As Chief of Police, Chief Stead will oversee safety and security for all Methacton students, staff, and facilities, and he plans to visit all buildings regularly.

“It's a tremendous responsibility to make sure that everybody that enters this building is safe and is welcomed,” he said. “I want to ensure that every student and staff member feels safe, supported, and protected.”

Chief Stead said he believes that his understanding of the district’s culture and his genuine care for the community will be key as he steps into this new role.

“Being a part of the Methacton family, I've always felt welcome here. I've always felt a part of the team. I'm excited to come back not as a guest in your house, but as part of the family.”
