On May 29, 2025, students from Arcola Intermediate School and Methacton High School got a hands-on look into the world of fire and rescue services, thanks to the Lower Providence and Worcester Fire Departments.

During the visit to the Lower Providence Fire Department, students learned essential emergency response skills—many of which firefighters use every day. They practiced breaking through doors, handling fire hoses, and even using tools to cut through vehicles in simulated rescue scenarios. These real-world exercises offered students an unforgettable look into the demands and rewards of first responder careers.

For those feeling extra adventurous, firefighters extended the fire truck ladder, giving students a bird’s-eye view from high above.

This collaboration is part of Methacton School District’s ongoing commitment to connecting classroom learning with real-life career exploration. A special thank-you goes to Dr. Shab Maffei, Methacton's Career Counselor, and our local fire departments for their time, mentorship, and dedication to educating the next generation.
