Summer is a great time to unwind, spend time outdoors, and enjoy time with family and friends. It is also a great time to READ!

In order to help prevent the “summer slide,” we are requesting all students to participate in our Summer Reading Program:
Students may choose at least one book to read over the summer that is appropriate for their current grade level and is something they will share with their classmates upon the return to school in the fall.

  1. Students should select a book that is comfortable for them to read independently and an appropriate length for a middle school-level book.
  2. Students are expected to know the title and author of the book that they chose for summer reading when they return to school in August.
  3. Their summer reading choice should be a book that they are reading for the first time.
  4. Students should be prepared to discuss and/or write about their chosen book at the start of the new school year. (Suggestion: students may take notes or write a short summary of the book to help refresh their memories before the start of school.)

If you need ideas on books to read, check out the 2025 Reading Olympics book list!
