The Arcola Philanthropy Club held an impactful ceremony today, marking the culmination of their year-long activities. This dedicated club, which receives funds from the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation (via the Methacton Education Foundation), is charged with the important task of distributing those funds to worthwhile community organizations chosen by the students themselves, who vote annually on the types of organizations to support.
Fourteen eighth-graders, nominated by their teachers and staff, compose this important group that gets together weekly to learn about giving back, leadership, and teamwork.
Our young philanthropists are making a real difference:
▪️ Good Samaritan Services is getting 4 new beds!
▪️ OpenHearth is receiving support for unique or emergency situations for clients who do not qualify for funding through other sources.
▪️ RHD Montgomery County Homeless Services received "move out" basket supplies.
▪️ Montgomery County Emergency Services will enhance their therapeutic Courtyard Program.
Our students also rolled up their sleeves for community service throughout the year, with field trips to the Variety Club and Good Samaritan/RHD, and helping out with the Arcola Sock Roll Challenge!
Huge thanks to the Philanthropy Club students, club moderators Mr. Mueller and Mrs. Corrado, and our generous funders for making this year a success!
